how to use templates to create new host/service? 1 Month, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hi,
In NagiosQL, I couldn't find any documentation on how to use the templates that I created in Supervision-->Host templates (or Service templates) when creating new host/service. In Supervision-->Host (or Services) --> Add, I can't seem to find any button to call on the templates that I created in the host/service templates. Is there a way to relate the templates in Host/Service templates when creating new host/service?
Thanks in advance.

regards,
Jean

First, this is not a nagios related issue I guess

Are your templates marked as active ? If not, activate the "active" checkbox on the first screen of your template definitions.

If your templates are active, by adding them via the drop-down menu on the first screen of your service/host definitions. Choose the template, insert it, put the templates in right order (if you want to use more than one template) and save your definition.

HTH & best regards

Sorry that I am at the wrong place. Is there a forum for NagiosQL?

Anyway, thanks for your reply. That was what I did. I create a new host/service and in Common Settings, I insert the template and then save. But I couldn't modify it after I save it. The required entries are just reminded blank. I need to do some minor changes to it. Maybe this is not the template intend to do. I wanted to create a general template that I can use it for, say 10 different servers, but with minor difference for some of them. Is this possible?

thanks.
